The Piara Waters family thought they had beat it — but cancer has now made a sinister return to their lives, with Eltringham herself diagnosed with stage four pancreatic neuroendocrine.

It is rare and Eltringham has found research and treatment limited.

“I want to be there for my children. I want to be strong for everyone else. It’s really hard,” she said.

Could this disgusting but common habit increase your COVID risk?

The 33-year-old is in limbo, living from scan to scan and constantly researching and looking overseas for answers.

Perth doctors are doing what they can but international hopes for treatment come at a cost — and it’s expensive.

A crowdfunding effort has been set up.

“This shock diagnosis at 33 years old after everything this amazing family has already been through is overwhelmingly difficult to comprehend,” My Cause campaign creator Amy Ryan said.

“Emma is such a strong, loving mum who will fight this and we want to provide her and Joel with the support they need to give her the best chance possible and also help ease financial stresses after all the other trauma the family has experienced over the years.“Emma ideally needs to get over to the US for the best treatment possible.”

Loved ones say they need to raise $160,000 to get Eltringham the treatment she needs.
